Introductions by yours truly :)
Hi! My name is Taliah. Well, actually my name is Selah, (Suh-lah). I'm 18 years old, and this is my first semester of college. Not going to lie, I thought this would be a little bit easier. I mean, high school was a breeze for me; top of my class, 4.3 GPA, Valedictorian, Student Body President, Champion Scholarship winner, the list goes on. I wish someone would've told me how different college was. I don't know, it just kind of seems like all of those little victories in high school hardly matter here, it's bittersweet. My goal is to do just a well in college as I did in my previous years, or better of course!
Oh, and there's nothing better than drawing whilst having Ted Talks play in the background. I know, I know, sounds really boring - just hear me out! It's a calm day; you're laying in bed, pencil, and pad in hand, determined to get those angles just right, and there are people, regular people, telling you stories. Stories that inspire you, motivate you, encourage you. Honestly, It's the only thing that really puts me in a 'progressive' mood. Makes me want to get up, and do something actually productive with my day. They remind me that we'll never get this time back, and how incredibly stupid it would be to waste it, you know? Here are some of my favorites, just give em' a shot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxDwieKpawg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCvmsMzlF7o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyyjU8fzEYU
Oddly enough, introductions are always the hardest part of assignments for me. You never realize how boring you truly are until someone asks you to 'introduce yourself', or tell them 'what you do for fun'. It's like all of a sudden I just forget who I am entirely. I literally walked around my entire house drilling my whole family into telling me what makes me unique. After a couple of playful punches from my lovely brother (heavy sarcasm on the 'lovely' part), and many many many manyyy eye rolls, my family finally admitted that it's my curiosity that makes me unique. My need to question everything, and desire to know the answers. My mom says that I've always been a 'know it all', not because I think I know everything without question, but because I question everything I think I know. Hm, I guess that does make me pretty special :)
Anyway, enough about me. I'm going to be 100% honest, when I first started writing this blog, I had absolutely no idea what I was going to write about. I researched a couple of interesting topics, I read through some of my fellow classmates' blogs, and I even texted some of my friends/family to get their opinions on what I should blog about. Nothing helped. It's hard to pick one topic when I believe in so many things. But then it dawned on me; nobody actually said I had to pick one singular belief to blog about. Nobody said I had to blog about beliefs at all. but they're interesting, so why not?

Hey Taliah! It's great to meet you! I totally get why you started going by your middle name, Selah. Sometimes it's just easier to go with what feels more comfortable. College can definitely be a different ballgame compared to high school
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that you have such diverse interests! Playing the piano, reading, watching horror shorts with your sister, and even attempting drawing - that's fantastic! It's all about enjoying the process and having fun with it. And I totally get the Ted Talk vibes! It's amazing how stories and inspiration can really push us to be more productive and make the most of our time.
Sorry, that was me!
