Blog Entry #4: Tis the season!

Hey guys! :)

It's officially holiday season and can I just be the first that SO excited! I know when people hear the term 'tis the season', they automatically think of Christmas. But when I say tis the season, I'm talking about everyday between now, and January 1st.

It's no secret that we've officially entered the most wonderful time of the year (again, not specifically a Christmas reference), and this is not up for debate. From October 1st - January 2nd, we're ALL at our happiest! The other horror-lovers and I get to relish in the spooky season; Pumpkins, Coraline, haunted houses, horror movies, Coraline, corn mazes, costumes, caramel apples, Coraline, ghost stories, spiced drinks, bonfires, trick-or-treating, and did I mention Coraline?? Halloween is arguably the best holiday ever! I mean, just watch these videos. There's no way they didn't just ignite a fire in your heart!

SpongeBob gif. Patrick happily chews with big bulging cheeks and saliva all over his mouth. He leans over a table that has an empty plate and various foods on it.
The best part about this time of year is that once halloween is over, there's still more to look forward to. I don't know about ya'll, but one thing about me is; I LOVE to eat. There's literally nothing more comforting than food. Which is why I'm also obsessed with Thanksgiving. Let's be real, we get dressed to go downstairs and eat ourselves into a food coma, what could honestly be better than that? We're surrounded by family/friends, catching up, and playing games, just eating and laughing all night until we fallout from the itis. Thanksgiving isn't my favorite, but you'd be crazy if you said you weren't looking for to it.

Alright, we're past halloween, and we're past Thanksgiving, yet somehow, there's still more to look forward to because now we're knocking on Christmas!! Definitely a close 2nd on my list. I mean how could you not the love Christmas?! It's the season of giving, and who doesn't love to get? But it's not just about the presents, there's gingerbread houses, cookies, Christmas lights, Christmas trees, ice skating, eggnog, PJ's, ugly sweaters, and the best part of all; the Christmas feast! Oh, and let's not forget that some of the best movies ever made are Christmas movies; The Grinch, Home Alone, Polar Express, the list goes on. Christmas is literally a holiday known for its joy and spreading cheerfulness. It's a known fact that everyone is kinder around Christmas because everyone is happier. Isn't that what we all want? To be happy? Even if its just for a couple of days.

Now we're 3/3, best months of our lives, and we're STILL not done; HAPPY NEWS YEARS (woot woot!)! After spooky season, eating season, AND happy season, we get to top it off with BBQ's and fireworks, friends and family, running around/playing games,  and thinking of ways we could improve ourselves. I'm a huge fan of self-improvement, my mother always told me that "those who cannot change their minds, can not change anything" and I've been living by those words ever since. There's something about New Years that just really speaks to my heart. I love all the superstitious things people come up with to try to bring good luck into the new year, even if none of it's true, I love seeing people go the extra mile to try anyways.

This is why I don't understand why people love Summer over Winter/Fall, like what's going on in your life that the best time of year is just constant boiling everyday? Oh, and the 4th of July - Whiptydo I guess 😐
I respect all opinions, but I can't say I understand them. I've said it once and I'll say it again; it's the MOST wonderful timeeeeeeee of the year, and I honestly feel like this blog proves that.
The holidays bring us together. It's when we spend the most time with the people we care about. This may not be a big deal to everyone, but I grew up Muslim, so we never celebrated the holidays growing up. My dad would always tell my siblings and I that Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. were all the "devils holidays", and that they "didn't mean anything". I never got a Christmas present, decorated a single tree, sat around a large table with my entire family, went trick-or-treating, or anything else I talked about. It wasn't until I was finally old enough to go out and do these things with my friends/boyfriends that I really understood the true meaning of the holidays. To me, it means celebrating generosity, gratitude, and above all; love. So like I said; tis the season!

  1. Hello! I definitely agree that this is the best time of year. The only thing that I am not a big fan of are the holiday songs and movies. Although there are some that I enjoy I feel like its always the same thing every year and it can get kind of annoying. I also don't understand why people love summer especially living in Phoenix the heat kind of ruins everything good about it. I really enjoy how you talk about the holidays and I hope that this year will be great for everyone. -Viridiana Sandoval

  2. Hey Taliah! I so agree with you about this being the best time of the year. I feel everyone thinks tis way because all the holidays are back to back. Which is 100% okay if you ask me. Personally my favorite time is fall. Halloween and Thanksgiving are my top favorites. I don't have an issue with holiday music but sometimes just sometimes Christmas music gets on my nerves. I think it's only if I keep hearing the song over and over and over again. Now movies.... I am a sucker for all of them no matter the season. Summer is the worse out here.. Way too hot to do anything. I love how you talk about all season and how people feel for this time of year. Hopefully you have a great next few months and have a wonderful time!!

  3. Hello Taliah! I completely agree that this is the best time of the year. It would be extremely hard to argue against all of your great points. I enjoy all of the holidays and celebrations because that means I get to spend more time with my family. After living in Arizona all of my life I would have to add another point to why this time is better; the weather.
