Entry #3: A Rather Chilling Experience

The moment it touched my tongue, a chilling sensation began creeping up my back, this intense icy-cold uproar started stinging the back of my throat, a calm freshness began tickling my tastebuds, a crisp breeze outlined my face, a sweet flavor began melting on my tongue, all while goosebumps began to cover my arms.
You know that feeling you get when you're watching a horror movie, and you just know there's about to be a jump-scare? You're just sitting in front of the TV, shivering in your blanket, body hairs standing up all over, waiting in anticipation. Yeah, kind of taste like that at first. Like that chill you get when you know something's about to jump out at you, but that's the part you love the most.
It's like you feel your muscles tighten, but in the best way possible.
Super cold, but in the most refreshing way, you know?
Not like a 'Oh My God, it's so cold get me out of here' feeling, more like when you go to a haunted house to get that thrilling experience that causes a natural high type of feeling.
I'm a horror-lover, so I definitely know how to appreciate a good chilliness, but for all the horror-haters, it's like having the coldest splash enter your body after being outside all day in the Arizona heat. You get chills up and down your back, and it's absolutely, utterly refreshing.
After you get past the cold, you get hit with this sudden 'zing'. We all went to middle school, right? And I'm sure we've all played dodgeball before. Anyone who's ever got hit in the face with one of these, knows exactly what I mean when I say... that thang' was spicy.
It taste like the sting of a rubber ball slamming into your face; bold, zingy, but ultimately exciting to your palate.
I know the dodgeball example probably makes the experience sound horrible; but I assure you, it's not. It taste like enthusiasm and liveliness. Like your tastebuds just got the best wake-up call of their lives! It's almost eccentric.
Not sure how relatable this one is, but when you were a kid, have you ever been outside playing as hard as you can? All the neighborhood kids running up and down through the streets, the sun is starting to set, and the street lights begin to highlight the roads. You're sweaty and exhausted, but you're not ready to end the day and go back inside. So instead, you run in the house real quick, and relish in a nice cold glass of water, before dashing back outside to continue whatever game you're involved in. Yeah, kind of taste like that too.

We're almost done here. But I wouldn't be providing a proper description if I didn't mention the breeze. We all know that Arizona is known for its astounding mountains; Sedona, Grand Canyon, even Flagstaff, are all places that highlight how amazing our mountains are. We also have our local mountains; South Mountain, Apache Peak, Camelback Mountain, North Mountain etc. You ever been to any of these places? I have, and let me tell you; the winds up there are incredible. You feel the air beneath your clothes, strong drafts of wind trying to push you in the opposite direction, and it's so windy at the top, that even on the hottest days, you're still cold! And that's exactly what they taste like; chilly mountain breezes even though everything around you is warm.
Even better, once you get past the chilly, zingy, refreshing, breezy-ness of it all, you're left with the sweetest aftertaste! Describing sweetness is kind of hard, it's like a feeling that makes your tastebuds smile. Does that make sense?
Let's put it this way; you know that feeling you get when you see an old couple holding hands in public? Or a bunch of puppies cuddling each other? Or when you hear a baby laugh for the first time? It makes your heart do a little "💓☺!", it's like that but with with your tastebuds. It's like making your tongue say 'awww :)'.

Overall, I'd describe the taste as the icy-cold chilliness you get from watching a horror movie, followed by the sting/zing you'd experience from getting hit in the face with a dodgeball, accompanied by the freshness of a nice cold glass of water, topped off with with that strong AZ mountain breeze, and finally, completed with the sweetness of puppies, old people, and babies :)
I don't know, probably makes more sense in my head 😹
